When A Snail Falls In Love

There is a corpulent Chinese national on the train who complains non-stop about everything, until a bunch of ruffians rob him right then and there. In front of everyone. When they get rough with a woman who is sitting opposite the complainer and has the guts to protest the theft, Ji Bai intervenes.

Night, a park and a shady figure of a man - face hidden behind a scarf - who puts something with sharp edges into the grass.

A guy in a face mask, doing some cleaning in the vicinity, gets up and leaves. Everyone steps closer to see what's going on with the arrest. Xu Xu sees him. He looks back over his shoulder suspicious and also speeds up more suspiciously. Xu Xu follows him. Alone. Maybe it is not the smartest thing to do.

We're with a man in a parking garage - that man is Zhang Shiyong (Jiang Bing), as we later find out. He is attacked by a man in a mask with a baseball bat. Zhang Shiyong manages to hide underneath a car and the assailant. Very shaken, Zhang Shiyong calls the police on his mobile to make a report.

We're in a field of sorts, it's night and a man protests that the girl in front of him is too young, apart from being a deaf-mute. The girl is terrified as she gets shoved to her knees. The guy who just protested leaves in a hurry when she tries to grab onto him, the girls starts stumbling away, but the guy who tried to sell her catches up quickly and starts beating her.

An arrest is made and a life is lost - but how are these things connected?

A mountainous, lonely area. A tune. The camera zooms in and down. It's a mobile phone, Zixi's of course, lying in the dirt, among some shrubs. 'Third bro' is calling. It's 7:21 am. Cut to Ji Bai at the provincial police station, Zhao Han and Yao Meng are as worried as he is, but trying to make sense of this. Maybe she went to bed after sending him that message as a joke.

Zhang Shiyong is scared. And he is in Ye Zixi's house. Hurriedly, he packs his clothes, rearranges some of hers. He takes his toiletries, washes glasses that he might have touched. He leaves the house and drives away as fast as he possibly can.

Ye Qiao sits with Ye Zixi in her mountain mansion. Zixi is wearing the clothes she later gets killed in, the knives she gets slaughtered with are behind her. Ye Qiao is there to tell her cousin to leave Zhang Shiyong. Ye Zixi flat out refuses to do that. And she can't help Ye Qiao "with her other problems" either. Ye Qiao is furious and she looks back at the knives.

Xu Xu is lying on the chalk outline, imagining the crime. Suddenly, her eyes fly open and she breathes in fear. The sound of a gun being loaded. She jumps up, it's Ji Bai! Man, she's so relieved and he's so angry/concerned.

Shiyong arrives at his place and parks his Porsche. Two guys jump over the wall, knock him out and drag him away.

Chairman Ye inspects his warehouses and we see how he gets to the last of them. He remembers another storeroom. There is one, but the door is sealed, even bricked up! They break it open and find drugs. Papa Ye tells an underling to bring it to the police station. He can't save Ye Corporation anymore. It's too late.

The team moves against the human traffickers.

With police officers carrying kids down the stairs and women and girls being led to a bus by medical professionals. But there is one woman screaming and kicking: The noodle shop lady, her name is Xie Yu Lan. Her disappearance has been confirmed in the meantime; she left her hometown to open a noodle shop but never got in touch with her sons again.

We are back in the hospital, in Yao Meng's room. Her mom is with her, as is Xu Xu. After sending her mother out, Yao Meng asks about that nurse in the parking lot and that girl in the toilet.

It's official: Ji Bai gets permission to head to Burma and go against the Golden Shield Group. Only evidence collection is allowed, though, no physical arrests. That's the Burmese army's job, despite the politically unstable situation.

Monkey is on stake-out with two soldiers. A white van with six people zips by just when Ji Bai tells him on the radio that's the people who threatened their witnesses. Monkey takes a scooter and takes pursuit.

The explosion is massive. And the entire team knows, or at least strongly suspects, what just blew up! Everybody starts moving in the direction of the supermarket. Xu Xu gets to the site on a tri-bike.

We finally see what happened right before the explosion.

Bad guys are arrested! Take this, criminals! Jin Du too! We see him next with Commissioner Zhan, who seems very familiar with this guy. Zhan mentions the Ye Langqing kidnapping and murder case - planned out together with Hu Zishan. And that policeman who went missing.

ji Bai is down and at the mercy of Mr. and Mrs Bad.
